Our Design Process

Redesigning your garden can be a daunting task. It is tricky to know if some creative maintenance could solve the problems, or if a full re-think is needed.

It can be hard to re-imagine how the space could look, and sometimes it’s hard to even put your finger on what you are looking to achieve. Having a fresh perspective, and someone to ask you the right questions can make all the difference. Seeing a plan drawing, and a sketch of some views into the space could help you see the benefit of major works, and also make sure that they will have the desired effect.

If what you need is a full garden redesign, we will start with a free consultation. We will work out the scope of the project, and give you a proposal of works, which outlines the design costs and maps out the aims, as well as a rough timeline for works. Once this proposal is accepted, we can get started!

CONSULTATION

Next, a detailed survey is done of the garden, to make sure we capture all of the dimensions, levels, existing features, trees and established plants.

Scale plan drawings are drawn up, based on your wishlist. If the garden is on multiple levels, or sloped, then elevation sections (a cross section view of the garden) can help you understand the space better.

A moodboard of hard landscaping ideas and planting schemes will help you get an idea of the look and feel for the design.

DESIGN & RESEARCH

Once the design has been finalised, a detailed computer drawn layout with measurements will be provided to your contractor, or if you wish us to deal directly with contractors, we will get quotes and handle the process of the build.

BUILD

Last, but by no means least - the planting always happens at the end of the project once any hard landscaping is complete. Often happening in multiple phases (starting with trees, shrubs, then climbers, grasses and herbaceous perennials & bulbs), this is ideally done in Spring or Autumn.
